Rate limits
Two limits: calls a minute and calls a day. Every response tells you where you stand.
| Header | Meaning |
|---|---|
X-RateLimit-Limit | Calls a minute your plan allows |
X-RateLimit-Remaining | Calls left in this minute |
X-RateLimit-Reset | When the minute resets, as a Unix time |
X-Quota-Remaining | Calls left today |
Limits belong to your account, not to a key: all your keys share one allowance a minute and one a day.
When you go over
The call is refused with 429 and nothing is charged. rate_limited means slow down for the rest of the minute; quota_exceeded means today's allowance is used and resets at 00:00 UTC. Both carry Retry-After in seconds.
Pace yourself
Read X-RateLimit-Remaining and wait for X-RateLimit-Reset when it reaches zero. For live scores, one call to /v1/live every 10 seconds is 6 a minute and covers every table.
